YTS.mx Down? The New Official YTS Domain, Checked November 2, 2026
yts.mx went offline in November 2025, but YTS only moved. The new official YTS domain, the old .lt, .bz, .am and .ag domains that redirect to it, copies to avoid, and whether YTS is safe.
Quick Answer
yts.mx stopped resolving on November 19, 2025, but YTS itself still runs: it moved to a .lt domain, then to .bz in January 2026, and now forwards all five of its official domains to one new main address, shown in our test. In our November 2, 2026 test of 28 YTS domains, 7 belong to YTS, 14 are sites using the YTS or YIFY name, and 7 are blocked, redirect elsewhere or are gone, including yts.mx.
- yts.mx
- Gone since Nov 2025
- Official YTS domains
- 5, all reach the site
- Sites using the YTS name
- 14 copies and redirects
- Blocked, parked or silent
- 7 domains
What happened to YTS.mx?
yts.mx stopped working on November 19, 2025, when the domain vanished from the Mexican registry even though it was paid up until 2028. YTS itself kept running: it moved to yts.lt, then to yts.bz in January 2026, and now forwards every official domain to a new main address. In our test, all five official domains reach the YTS site and yts.mx does not answer.
What is the official YTS site now?
One address served the YTS site in our test of . The other four official domains forward to it, so an old bookmark still works.

yts.gg
yts.bz, yts.lt, yts.ag and yts.am redirect here
The address YTS names as official on its own homepage and on ytsproxies.com. It describes itself as the former YTS.BZ and YTS.MX site.
YTS’s two status pages disagree: ytsproxies.com lists the address above first, while yifystatus.com still calls YTS.BZ the current domain. Both lead to the same site, because yts.bz forwards there. Every other result is in the full test below.
Which YTS site is real? How to spot a copy
Searches such as “yts official site”, “yts original site”, “yts current domain” and “yts real site” add up to about 2,400 a month, because the name is crowded: in our test, 14 domains outside YTS’s own list load or forward to sites using the YTS or YIFY name.
YTS publishes its own list
- The YTS homepage and ytsproxies.com name the same five domains: .gg, .bz, .lt, .am and .ag.
- YTS says sites claiming to be YTS but missing from that list should not be assumed to be run by it.
- yts.mx is no longer on the list.
“Official” in the title proves nothing
- yts.rs, yts.me.uk, yts-official.com and yify.guru all call themselves the official home of YTS or YIFY.
- Several still put “YTS.MX” in their title, a year after .mx disappeared.
- Two copies even sit in Google’s top results for “yts”.
Proxy and mirror domains
- YTS’s “proxies” are just its five official domains.
- Third-party “unblock” and proxy domains in our test led to script redirects, bot checks or an ad network.
- A proxy sees every page you open and can inject its own ads.
How YTS moved from .mx to its new domain
The move left a trail in Google searches. A year ago “yts mx” got a million searches a month; each new domain then had its own spike as people looked for the site, with “yts down” peaking at 22,200 in the month .mx disappeared. Nobody has explained why the .mx domain was deleted: the registry and the registrar each pointed TorrentFreak to the other.

May 29 – June 1, 2026
More than two days of downtime: yts.bz and every domain forwarding to it show a Cloudflare 504 error.
Summer 2026
yts.gg becomes the main address; searches for it jump from 5,400 in May to 110,000 in July.

Recommended VPNs for torrenting: hide your IP from the swarm
On BitTorrent, every peer in the same torrent can see your IP address, and rights holders log the IPs they find in public swarms. A VPN replaces yours with its server’s. Pick by need: Proton VPN Plus for P2P servers with port forwarding; Private Internet Access for P2P allowed on every server.
What a VPN doesn’t do
Proton VPN Plus
- Port forwarding is included in every paid plan, on P2P servers (marked ⇄).
- Available in the Windows, macOS (early access) and Linux apps.
- Up to 10 devices on one subscription.
2-year plan
Private Internet Access
- P2P traffic is allowed on all server locations.
- Port forwarding is offered on most locations, but not on US servers.
- Open-source desktop and mobile apps.
This page contains affiliate links. If you sign up through them, NAT Checker may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Features checked on October 29, 2026 in the official Proton VPN (port forwarding, plans) and Private Internet Access (P2P, port forwarding) documentation.
Is YTS safe in 2026?
YTS has shared user data before
- In 2020 the operator handed information from its user database to film companies as part of a settlement.
- Lawsuits against users then cited email addresses, IP addresses and download records.
- An account ties your email to what you download; browsing and magnet links need no account.
Your IP is public in the swarm
- YTS only lists torrents: the download itself runs over BitTorrent.
- Every peer in the same torrent sees your IP, and rights holders watch popular film swarms.
- A VPN swaps your IP for its server’s: see our 2 recommended VPNs for torrenting.
Ads on the real site, worse on copies
- The official YTS homepage itself loads an obfuscated ad script, so expect pop-ups.
- Copies add fake “download” buttons and notification prompts.
- A YIFY film is a video file (.mp4 or .mkv); never run an .exe or .apk.
Subtitle sites
- “yify subtitles” gets about 27,000 searches a month, and subtitle sites carry the same ad networks.
- One subtitle-style domain in our test forwarded to a YTS copy.
- A subtitle is a small .srt file; anything else is not a subtitle.
No official app
- The YTS homepage and its two status pages mention no app.
- Apps named YTS in app stores and APK sites are made by others.
- An APK from a torrent site can read far more than a browser tab can.
Is YTS legal?
- No: it shares recent films without a license from the rights holders.
- In the US, film companies have sued individual YTS users, using IPs and YTS’s own records.
- The services below are licensed and many are free.
YTS alternatives that are free and legal
“yts alternative” and “sites like yts” get about 4,500 searches a month. These services carry licensed films, five of the six at no cost, and the Internet Archive even offers public-domain films as torrents.
| Service | What you get | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Tubi | The largest free film library in the US, also in the UK, Canada and Australia. | Free with ads |
| The Roku Channel | Films, series and live channels in a browser or on any TV. | Free with ads |
| Pluto TV | Live channels and on-demand films without an account. | Free with ads |
| Kanopy | Classic, indie and festival films with a library card from a library that subscribes. | Free with a library card |
| YouTube Movies & TV | Full films free with ads in some countries, plus rentals in HD and 4K. | Free with ads or rent |
| Internet Archive | Public-domain films that you can stream or download, many also as torrents. | Free |
Looking for one film? JustWatch (justwatch.com) lists which licensed services stream, rent or sell a title in your country, including the free ones above.
YTS questions people ask
Our method
- Checked on by OwoZhero for NAT Checker.
- The domain list combines YTS’s own official list, the domains people search for in Google Ads Keyword Planner, and the copies that appear in Google and Bing results for YTS searches.
- Search volumes are Keyword Planner’s monthly averages for all locations; month-by-month figures show how searches moved between domains.
- We did not log in, download any torrent or bypass bot checks. The test is repeated monthly.
