Fortnite Matchmaking Error: Fix Failed Matches and Parties
Check whether Epic is down, then follow the steps for failed solo matches, party joins, or a restricted console NAT result.
Quick Answer
Check Epic Games Public Status. Wait if Matchmaking, Parties, or Login shows an outage.
If status is clear, fully restart Fortnite and try a standard solo match. Continue with the match fixes if solo fails, or the party steps if solo works.
For error -91, check Party Joinability, crossplay, the clock, and cache. If the console network test reports restricted NAT, open the guide for that console.
Is Fortnite matchmaking down right now?
Open Epic Games Public Status and expand Fortnite. If Matchmaking, Parties, or Login shows an outage, wait until it returns to Operational. If all three are Operational, continue with the error code and fixes below.

How to fix the Fortnite matchmaking error
Test matchmaking after each step and stop when it works.
- 1
Restart Fortnite and install updates
Cancel the queue, quit Fortnite completely, restart the device, and install any game or system update.
- 2
Try a standard solo playlist
Clear any custom matchmaking key, choose an Epic-made mode such as Battle Royale Solo, and set Matchmaking Region to Auto.
- 3
Restart the home network
Stop large downloads, use Ethernet when possible, then unplug the modem and router for 60 seconds. Wait until the connection is fully back before opening Fortnite.
- 4
Try one match on a phone hotspot
Connect the same device to a phone hotspot and try once without changing the account, playlist, or region.
What the phone-hotspot test tells you
